Recently in new hands and there's no twee-ness here now instead there is a minimalist decor of grey walls decorated with pictures and brass beer taps. Part carpet, part laminate flooring and furnished with round wooden tables and unmatched chairs mixed with Britannia tables. On the bar are three pumps with Theakstons beers, Best Bitter, Lightfoot and the current seasonal, otherwise a fairly standard keg choice with Murphys, Moretti, Fosters, Amstel and Symonds cyder. There were a few locals in for a drink and some oldies out to lunch.
It's closed Tuesday lunchtime, otherwise it trades 12-close.

One of two pubs in the village both of which are food oriented, this one is decorated in overdressed front room style, although furnished in pub fashion with bench seating, britannia and sewing machine, candle powered, tables with a mix of chairs. Vertical drinking space at the bar otherwise everything laid out for eating. There are a couple of cases of stuffed birds a la Hales in nearby Harrogate, with the usual mix of plates, mirrors, horse brasses and some old photos of the pub when it was more pub like. Normal range of kegs plus three handpumps with too cold, but drinkable Black Sheep Bitter, Tetley Cask and Old Speckled Hen served by friendly staff.
