Visited 18/02/26. Visited previously 05/05/21.

Cask here comprised staples Ruddles, Doom Bar, Abbot, plus Exmoor Gold, Game On from JW Lees, Titanic Plum Porter, the Abbot Reserve at a tasty 6.5% abv, Oakham JHB, and the Blonde & Bonnie pale ale from Loch Lomond. Keg comprised Worthington CF, Bud Light, Corona, Stella, K1664, Coors, Guinness, Weston’s Stowford Press, Thatcher’s Haze, Angelo Poretti, Carling, Carlsberg, Budweiser, original and Dark fruits SB, Leffe Blonde, Shipyard Pale Ale, BD Punk IPA.

Glass fronted venue with some seating out the front on a quiet pedestrianised road. The bar counter is down the left-hand wall with a ceramic tile skirt, the rest of the venue being a rather dull carpeted area. Lots of regular and tall tables packed in, space here is at a premium. there are a few booth tables in the rear right-hand corner and there is a small’ish outside seating area at the rear. There is an upstairs seating area with its own bar counter, same style, tile skirt, with the rest of room carpeted with lots of regular tables packed in plus some booth tables along the front windows plus a ledge seating area with tall stools in the left-hand corner. There is a small seating area before entering the main seating area at the top of the stairs, partly boarded, partly carpeted with regular tables and chairs by the kitchen serving hatch. Think it is a pretty average place as a venue, but it is really good on the cask beer front, so I tend to put up with it as a venue and just enjoy the beer.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Central Bar (JD Wetherspoon)

Routine office-block 'spoons, closed to the city centre but in a quieter area than most of the others. Standard furniture and décor in the square(ish) bar, but benefiting on a hot, sunny day from the fully sliding windows at the front and a breeze through from to the open rear doors. Outdoor tables out on the pavement and in the rear patio beer garden. The usual Ruddles, Doom Bar and Abbot plus Jaipur, Woodforde's Wherry, Red Kite from Vale, Mad Squirrel Unity and the more local Jemima's Pitchfork from Glamorgan (£1.99) on the two banks of five handpumps.

Less-than-attractive ‘spoons just off a pedestrianised shopping strip and situated beneath an ugly ‘60s’ office block.
This is a simpler offering, close to Cardiff university buildings, so expect students.
I went for a half of the Nottingham Legend, marked as good.
As Graham mentions, does what it says on the tin; the Flute & Tankard is opposite.
