Not been in here for many years so decided to call in while in Manchester back in September 2025.

Two banks of four hand pulls but each bank was duplicated. Ales available were all from J W Lees as you'd expect, Biscuit Barrel, MPA and Bitter. The Biscuit Barrel was meant to be a spiced biscuit ale (presumably Biscoff was the aim) but it fell rather short on the flavour front - starting off bland and then becoming a struggle to drink towards the end.

It gets points for the location and for having some cask beers on - but considering the Rain Bar is reputed to be one of the brewery's flagship locations, the ale selection was a bit limited and I may well leave it another 10 years before deciding to darken its doors again.

Housed in a stunning looking red brick and sandstone building, which was a former Umbrella factory. We ventured in from the Bridgwater canal side and came across a massive beer garden, which was full on our visit. Seemingly this pub hosts the largest beer garden in central Manchester.
The main bar area is painted in a dark green with JW Lees name painted along the back bar panelling.
The interior is bare floor boards and some exposed brick, the theme was like an American saloon in style with mock up stage coach wheels around the ceiling lamps.
On the left of the main entrance was a small lounge area which looked quite plush apart from a couple of portraits of the Gallagher brothers in a historic and military pose, along with Morrissey.
Four handpumps two of which serving Lees Manchester Pale, Blonde and Bitter.

after an afternoon session in the Britons Protection I strolled down to tick this one off. Needless to say it paled in comparison, a pretty standard corporate pub/restaurant with little to recommend it beyond the rather nice canalside location - plenty of tables and chairs at the back. Lees Bitter, Session and MPA on cask at city centre prices. Clientele a few after work drinkers, students and a dining family.
