Large but basic pub with one room and two entrances. Bar in the middle. No hand pumps, just keg rubbish.

This is a massive pub along Walworth Rd, still retaining its most impressive Truman's signage. Unfortunately not all of the erstwhile pub remains in pub use. In fact it's now a single room bar with fielded paneling on the walls to picture rail height, and with filded paneling on the bar counter front as well. The bar back also looks inter-war. It's carpeted, with a wood-framed russet and cream tiled splash area surrounding the counter, and with a raised stage on the left which looks as if it would be used for showing televised sporting events (but with loads of junk on it when I visited). Furnishings are normal tables and chairs and settles. There were three or four locals in when I visited at around noon; presumably it's busier in the evenings.
OK so far - but there's no real ale. My half of Guinness was £1.80 which is not bad. I didn't see any sign of food on Tuesday lunchtime. The best feature here is the superb and iconic Truman's external facade. The interior might once have been just as impressive, but alas no longer so.

The Red Lion is a large looking pub that still has all of its original stone Trumans signage outside including an eagle on the corner.
Once inside i went in the front room which is L shaped with the bar facing, there is pew type seating around the edge of the room and it is carpeted, there was a large drop down screen in the middle of the room showing the Southampton v Newcastle game.
There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of John Smiths smooth crap which it was.
The pub was quite busy on my Saturday afternoon visit, just a shame the people of Walworth dont like real ale.
