Two banks of six hand pulls across two sections of bar. Unfortunately at the time of my visit back in May, I caught it at a bad time for guest ales with only three appearing to be available, with some being pulled through or showing as 'coming soon' on the pump. Guest ales are £3.55 a pint, which isn't expensive by normal standards, but is for a Spoons, so you are paying a certain premium for the location at Liverpool Lime Street station. Busy as could be predicted for a Spoons on a train station (sorry, railway station for the purists!) with plenty of customers with suitcases at their tables.
Gents toilets are upstairs as is a further seating area. Ladies toilets are in the basement area.
There are a small number of outdoor tables and chairs on the pavement at Lime Street. I noticed the presence of air conditioning, which was effective in the area I was sitting in.
I'd perhaps not seek it out again unless I was using the station or they have a guest ale on that I particularly want to try. However it's good to have crossed it off the list.

The North Western is a branch of Wetherspoon's at Liverpool's Lime Street station. Housed in an impressive building, there are a few high ceilinged-rooms, including a balcony level in the main bar. An often missed room to the rear left-hand side (when looking from Lime Street itself) is probably the highlight. This was where the bar used to be when the pub was the Head of Steam.
We don't tend to use this pub as often as we should. It's obviously handy for the station, but always seems to be packed. This morning was no exception, with many racegoers having a quick drink before heading on a train out to Aintree racecourse.
Handpulls are spread over two different rooms. The regulars Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar are in one bar. Luckily the guests are all in the main bar area. Today when we arrived, these were Tatton Honeycomb Mild & Black, Green Jack Trawlerboys, Titanic Plum Porter & Flack's New Forest Classic IPA. Another handpull was clipped with Weston's Old Rosie. We ordered the Black and the Mild, but the Black had finished. Despite it being early in the day, a Holbeck Cavendish was very quickly pulled through.
It's certainly worth a look in this place. Whatever your thoughts on Wetherspoon's they have refurbished quite a few buildings impressively and this one is no exception.

The North Western is a large Wetherspoons at Lime Street Railway Station that was absolutely rammed during a recent early Monday evening visit. It’s an impressive building with different sized rooms over at least two floors. I found two bars on the ground floor, but I could only get into one where the six hand pumps were drawing a decent pint of Titanic’s Cherry Porter alongside Bowman’s Swift One, Wily Fox Brewery’s Karma Citra, Nethergate’s White Stout, Hook Norton’s Double Stout and Old Rosie Cider. I would say that I’ll pop back in at a quieter time so that I can have a proper look around, but I was expecting it to be quiet enough on a drab Monday evening in February!
