Visited back in May, on a Wednesday afternoon around 3pm. Wasn't mad busy but a few people in. The pub is bigger than I remembered. At the time of my visit there were five of six hand pulls in active service, offering Pennine Heartland, Craven Beyond The Pale, Settle Mainline, Yorkshire Heart Godiva Pale and Leeds Midnight Bell. Bitters and pales dominated, with the Midnight Bell being the lone dark offering.
It's a traditional feeling pub inside, with patterned carpet, dark wood tables and chairs. There is a beer garden to the rear, which I did not visit on this occasion, but recall it's a decent size from previous visits.

A nice unpretentious mid-market place. Fairly modern but in an understated way - pub carpet, wooden bar with brass hanging upper, wood burning stove in a large stone fireplace, green velveteen banquettes along some of the perimeter. Darts and pool discreetly tucked-away for the locals. GBG-listed; five cask with a good range which seemed ambitious for a late November Tuesday however they delivered with halves of Settle Mainline (NBSS 4) and Wishbone Abyss (3.5) hitting the spot from a friendly bar. I’d make a point of getting off the train to do this one again. Really good.

Since my previous review nearly three years ago I've come here a few times and a couple of times I've had food here. They do some first rate chips - thinly cut and refried - and of course the beer is tip top. I've never been here in the evening, so it's interesting to see the previous reviewer's assessment: a "proper drinking pub". In the afternoon they definitely major on food, with most tables in use or reserved, but plenty of real ale being poured - one beer ran dry just as I was thinking of having it for my second pint. Settle Mainline was very good (NBSS 4) and Wishbone Abyss, which seems to be a regular dark beer as I've had it here before, almost as good at 3.5.
