Large Spoons with the bar to the left side. Usual ales on offer. Couldn't find the toilets so had to use the disabled one (as did others). Standard type of place.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Packhorse Inn (JD Wetherspoon)
17th-century coaching inn that has reverted to its original name (having been known more recently as the Lion Hotel until reopened by Wetherspoons). Although little character remains inside, the three-part slightly split-level layout (with the bar in the centre) is pleasant enough in a semi-modern way. However, it was really only notable for having a particularly pedestrian selection from the two banks of five handpumps on the day I visited: Ruddles, Doom and Abbot plus Wells Eagle IPA, Courage Directors, Cocker Hoop (£2.15) and a cider.

This is an old coaching inn that became a Spoons in 2005. Although it was a hotel JDW are not currently using it as one.
Inside it is long and narrow although the central bar area does open out a bit more. Despite being open plan there are a few separate areas.
The bar has ten hand pumps but on my visit the beer selection was poor as one was unused then the two GK beers and Doom Bore were doubled up. This left just one beer from the local festival, Marston's Old Empire and the local 8 sail John Barleycorn IPA. I went for the John Barleycorn (£2.40) a 5.5% English IPA in very good condition.
Overall I thought this was a nice enough Spoons but let down by the poor beer choice, especially as it is GBG 2016 listed.
