This shop converted Irish pub used to be called ‘Spoons’ and my one and only visit was very disappointing due to strange staff and oddball clientele. When the name changed I decided to pop my head back in the door and I have been in a few times since as it is much improved with friendly staff and a good mix of local characters. Like any self respecting Irish pub there are plenty of screens dotted about with the inclusion of a projector screen and any football or horse racing that is on is always shown. There were a few signs up advertising traditional Irish music sessions from 9pm on Saturdays and although I’ve never been I have driven past and seen the pub very busy.
Youngs’ Gold and Pride were the two ale options alongside a standard draught selection and I’ve found the Guinness to be well served on all visits.
It is quite big in here and although it is a single room it does have some nice tucked away seating due to a large brick pillar and staircase splitting the pub. This staircase leads down to a pool room and a 'patio garden' which is in fact a small house garden with three picnic tables and a bench, but it is pleasant enough for a couple of beers.
