I'm not sure if this place is still called the Town Street Tavern, or simply The Tavern. It can be found on Horsforth's main commercial street. The ground floor room has bare boards, apart from tiling around the bar. Walls are painted magnolia with the ceiling painted blue. There are a few large pot plants adding a bit of greenery. Further seating can be found upstairs and in a small patio area to the right-hand side of the building.
There are now 6 handpulls with beers mainly from Timothy Taylor & Ossett. Timothy Taylor Landlord was on but a Boltmaker clip was turned. From Ossett, White Rat is a regular beer and their Yorkshire Blonde was also on. Further guests were Black Sheep Respire & Brew York Tonkoko, completing an all-Yorkshire brewery line-up. Pick of the keg beers was Beavertown Neck Oil. The cider was Inch's. A promotion was ongoing selling jugs of Pimms for £20. Although the customer base in during our daytime visit were mainly elderly folk and whilst trying not to judge, I doubt they were Pimms drinkers. So perhaps the bar takes on a different feel in the evening.
Music was playing during our visit. I didn't spot any TVs but a wifi password was provided on the bar. Dogs are welcome and some biscuits can be found near the front door. Events included a charity quiz night and a chess club.
I didn't quite take to this bar which has changed owners since the last review. It was bright and airy and had a good number of cask ales but it lacked a pub atmosphere.

Will Larter left this review about Town Street
A Market Town Taverns "pub and dining room", with the bar at the back featuring 10 hand pumps, though only six of them had pump clips on, giving a slap-dash look. There are eight keg taps, and for a not over large shop conversion (with additional seating upstairs), surely five or six real ales would be plenty, so why clutter the place up with unused gear? Choice of beers was a little lop-sided, with four pales and a chocolate orange stout. Having said which my half of Roosters Enter the Dragon 4.3% was in excellent condition - other beers were two each from Ilkley and Ossett.

Old Boots left this review about Town Street
Since the takeover of Market Town Taverns by Okells parent company, the Town Street Tavern has been renamed and revamped, it is now much less brown, brighter but with a lot less character. In spite of the takeover there are still 8 pumps instead of the usual 6 that Okells leave post makeover.
