This prominent roadside pub was a big let down compared with other Herefordshire pubs we visited on a Sunday in late January.
We were pounced upon on arrival with somebody asking if they could help us. I wanted to say that they could help us by getting out of the way so that we could get to the bar, but was very quickly ushered off to a table where it soon became apparent that the Covid remnant of table service was in operation here.
We were seated at a high table with stools next to the bar in a room which contained one other similar table, populated by a group of youngsters.
Wye Vally HPA & Butty Bach are the real ales here. There is no real cider. I suspect the emphasis here is on food. But we didn't get the opportunity to explore much further in the pub and with a less than friendly welcome, we soon drank up and moved on.

Large coaching inn with old wooden interior. One bar seemed unused and the whole place was almost empty at time of visit, which is a shame as it has great potential. Sadly the beer sampled was not in good condition. Hopefully it can be turned round before it is lost.

Sunday lunch at this pub is excellent, traditional, good service and a great selection of real ales...
