The Brawn's Den is situated in the village of Brandon, to the south west of the city of Durham.
From the outside, it looked like a typical estate-type pub, but inside was much more stylish.
On approaching the bar, I was requested to take a seat. Table service is still in operation here and I was hoping that this wasn't to be reflective of Durham itself. Luckily it was to be the only pub still persisting with the concept.
Just 2 ales were on, neither of them being local - Hobgoblin Gold & Pure Ubu. I'd somehow managed to avoid the Pure Ubu until now, but gave it a try here.
Just 2 other couples were present. They appeared to be there for the food, as opposed to the beer.
Apparently the pub was mentioned in Parliament recently (March 2021) by the local MP, according to the local CAMRA magazine.
