Now I am a full time resident this has become one of my preferred town centre pubs. Usually four Hoskins ales on with fours guests (often including Bathams) - some come out of an air pressure dispense, so don't be fooled. Beer quality has been excellent over the course of several dozen pints. Vaping allowed inside and the patrons seem a bit more lively these days. It's a hardcore ale drinkers pub.

Was it really 16 years ago?? Anyway a friendlier reception this time - positively smiley from the barmaid - though some of the customers remain mute and surly. A good line up on cask and keg. My Hoskins HOB was excellent (NBSS 4) whilst Mrs Quinno enjoyed a tidy cider from Simply Cider called Liberty Press. The interior is rattly with some odd colour choices; I'll never love the place but the range and quality mean I'll be back a bit sooner. GBG’22 listed. Rated 7

Two big rooms with a smattering of old men looking at the Racing Post and waiting for something to happen, like tumble weed to blow past perhaps, it's that devoid of atmosphere. Not helped by the large open spaces, high ceilings and poor décor. Has an alright Real Ale range (Hoskins) and the Dolphin wheat beer was nice. A regular comedy evening was advertised too. It'd have to be bloody good to get the residents to chuckle though. Rated 5

A red brick corner pub with a curved but angled frontage that catches the eye, inside are two rooms with a bar that services both. Nine handles on the bar serving up beer and cider that being the last pub of the day I failed to make a note of apart from my choice of the Shipstones Mild.
It's a decent pub that I'd give another visit if the opportunity arises.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Ale Wagon

Somehow never managed to visit this well-known alehouse before, but the unfussy traditional interior was pretty much as I was expecting from previous reports (although I didn't manage to visit the second room beyond the right-hand end of the counter). I counted a total of nine handpumps and three keg taps, but some of these had more than one clip and several of these being for ciders. Went for the Hopkins Bros Mosaic (£2.00, half) in the end, due to its connections with the pub owners.
