Although there’s a two storey building on the corner turning into the car park the pub appears to be a single storey building at the back. Split into two with the counter in the right hand end, the left hand is a step up and both are furnished with tables and chairs. In common with many pubs hereabouts it’s a bit more eatery than pub, it’s a major tourist area of course especially with foreign holidays off the menu at present. Three pulls with two from Goddards which were finely kept and a third I didn’t catch the name of but could well have been an IPA from Yates, the glass was. Usual sort of kegs. The staff were pretty good in difficult covid circumstances and ordering etc is by wi-fi connected buttons.

Tucked away in a corner just off the crossroads, this is a cosy little place with a chintzy restaurant feel. The pretty little bar offers Yates Islander and Goddard's Fuggle-de-dum and Ale of Wight. Outside is a nice tabled patio area. Perhaps a bit more of a restaurant than a pub but very nice for a pint or three.

This one is tucked away off the junction. Looks like (and is labelled as) two buildings but the pub is the furthest one to the left (I assume the other is accommodation?). It has a long and fairly twee interior mainly set for dining with most of the tables reserved, so as it was a nice summer’s evening we padded outside to the pretty outside patio which looks like it will afford a view of the valley but what you actually get is the bush of the house over the road. Nice touch is that the benches have fake fur rugs to take the chill/ache off your botty. Surprised to find four ales on, 2x Goddards, Doom Bar and one I forgot to note. My Goddards Ale of Wight was in very good nick. Sounds like things have changed a bit since Soupy’s review below. It felt too restuaranty for me to truly recommend the walk to it just for a beer – if you go via the road it takes some doing. 6.5
