Gastro pub with a large bar area for less formal activities.

Surprised (and delighted) to find Church End Brewery Goat Milk on - a Camra Champion Beer. In perfect condition.

A fine gastro pub situated in the attractive village of Willian .The side entrance opens onto two dining areas,a restaurant to the right and a less formal area to the left beyond which is the bar.There is bench seating ,bar stools and a drinking shelf arrangement opposite the bar and a further alcove with more bench seating and a screen,off during my trip.The interior decor is minimalist,with bare boarded floors,spotlights,modern wooden furniture,cushions and few original features .The clear focus is on dining although I felt perfectly comfortable consuming beer and not eating .The food smelt great and most dining tables were taken which must be a good sign.Lunchtime starters varied between £5-£8,oysters more,sandwiches £5-£6,and mains between £10-£15 and awards have been won from the Good Pub Guide.
There are 5 handpumps with London Pride,Woodforde's Wherry,Brancaster's The Wreck SS Vina,Adnam's Bitter and a well kept St Austell Tribute at £3.10 and great care is taken with ale quality ,fully justifying the GBG entry.This is not really a pub for a heavy session but despite the somewhat clinical interior ,I would happily pop back for a beer and quite possibly for a fine dining experience.
