Blue Scrumpy left this review about Black Horse Inn

Situated in a bit of a valley and at a fairly busy junction, this is a local village pub on a T-junction with a car park opposite.

The bar is immediately in front of you as you walk in. The pub does not open until 3pm during the week. So, there was only a barman and what I took to be the landlord watching a quiz programme when I walked in. The pub dog had watched my arrival from the window, whilst another couple of customers did arrive during my visit, the one bemoaning the prices in the pub before promptly putting £5 into a fruit machine!

There are carpeted areas either side of the bar, with a pool table to the left and a dartboard to the right. There are fires either side with the one on the right-hand side being lit on what was a fairly chilly day for so early in the autumn. The bare brick and stone walls didn't help. Another TV was showing Sky Sports News, with a third TV off. There were some board games in the front right corner. Wifi came in quite useful, as there was no mobile phone signal here.

Pumpclips on the beams and on rods hanging from the beams suggest there has been an ever changing range of cask ales here. Despite there being a couple of handpulls, only one real ale is stocked these days. This was 61 Deep. John Smith's, Guinness & Strongbow supplemented the usual lagers on keg.

Customers and staff seemed fairly friendly here and the pub dog was even more so, as he settled down on my lap, until it was time to leave!
