A large remote moorland inn in between Ashburton and Princetown, near the West Dart river in outstanding counteyside .On a cold February day the pub was welcoming but we were virtually the only people in there. More walkers did arrive later and the atmosphere improved as a result. Two beers were on, the very local Jail ale from Dartmoor and a 6 nations beer from not too far Teignworthy which was in good order. Food was typical pub menu kind of thing but served well. I hope this pub can survice these turbulent times, part of the fun of a moorland walk is aiming to get to the pub for lunch / dinner / refreshments.
