Lovely village pub which seems to have reached a happy balance between food and beer. Four beers on, Timothy Taylor Boltmaker in the guest slot, alongside Black Sheep Best and two from Hawkshead, the Bitter and the Windermere Pale, which are always on. The Sheep was very good (NBSS 3.5) and went down a treat. Service was friendly, though I couldn't help hearing a conversation between a waiter and some diners, saying that there were no more Yorkshire puddings, and would they accept extra meat and potatoes. At 4pm on a Sunday? This suggests to me that they buy in their Yorkshires, and the cook doesn't know how, or doesn't have ingredients to make more. What is the world coming to?
