an extremely basic but cosy walkers pub. totally traditional inside, the tattiness in this case adding to the charm. infinitely preferable to the two down the road.

Superb to walk straight off the Cumbrian Way and into this fine walkers bar. 6 real ales on, most local, I went for a Theakstons Old Peculiar and an Estwaite Bitter whilst waiting for the log burner to do its magic on my wet clothes and frozen body!

Visited very recently. This was my second visit, my first being a very poor experience. Sadly the return just re-inforced my earlier opinion. Welcome = none , as there was noone there, the bell having been taped over and NO written on it. Eventually after calling many times a man who obviously was suffering from stress said "Yeah". I ordered and asked why the bell had been taped over, his reply was that he didn't want to be bothered by people when he was busy.
