Has become a very foody place now – on our Sunday afternoon visit there was only small table that was unreserved. Five ales on 2x Rebellion, TT Landlord, Gales HSB and Doom Bar. I went for the Smuggler and unfortunately got a vinegar tint to the beer – should have taken it back, really. It’s not the pub it was, really.

Has had a bit of a refurb since my last visit. Interior is one of those where a few buildings have been knocked into one, but there’s a bit of character and homeliness, such as the nicely done curtains (though the banquette covers need replacing). Log fire on the go in the inglenook which helped matters. Six ales available which was good to see; Rebellion Smuggler, Old Hooky, Gales HSB (a tad cold but in very good shape), Doom Bar, Tribute and Tim Taylor Landlord – quite a safe selection at first glance but coming from a pubco list I didn’t think it was bad at all. Quite enjoyed this one, overall. Rated 7

The guest beers don't seem to be as interesting as they used to be a year ago. The quality is still good though. Rated 7

Still doing a good job in here if you like a good ale - 5 on today including 2 Adnams beers and Ballards Wild in excellent shape. Can be a bit foody but retains the air of a drinkers pub outside of the more obvious eating times. Rated 8

Well-worth a visit due to the good selection of ales (5 including an excellent pint of Old Peculiar) and the warm and chatty atmosphere. Sadly had to leave earlier than planned, but will make a point of returning. Recommended. Rated 8

Despite having six handpumps all active, the interior set up says this is a food led pub, all tables being set out for dining purposes, the bar area is still an acceptable drinking area and there is a beer festival advertised for a June weekend. beers on were Pride,Landlord,Rebellion Smuggler, Gales HSB and St Austell Proper Job which turned out to be a tad under par, a fair but not overly adventurous selection, worth a look should you ever be passing.
