This pub has the feel of an estate pub. It is quite large and has many TVs for live sport. There are many Flags of St George on the ceiling, a few games machines and a dartboard at the rear. There is a smaller, more comfortable room to the right-hand side and there are also a few picnic tables on the patio to the front.

On the bar, there are 4 handpulls. Timothy Taylor Landlord was double-clipped, Fuller's London Pride was on a 3rd pull and the 4th was unclipped. Beavertown Neck Oil was the pick of the keg options. Ciders were restricted to Strongbow Original & Strawberry. Food is served and at least one customer was eating on my Monday lunchtime visit.

The pub seems to serve the local community well. Events held include a 60s Party Night, as wells as Elvis & Madonna nights and a jazz night. There is a bus stop immediately outside with regular buses into Southend and Rayleigh, or at least they are regularly scheduled. I waited half an hour for my bus which was supposed to run every 20 minutes.

This is a reasonable community pub with a bog standard beer range. Most customers seemed to be choosing between lagers. However with just a 10-minute walk, you could be drinking better beer in the nearby Leigh-on-Sea Brewery Tap.

what is it with pubs (Oakwood in Eastwood) booking gigs on the behalf of bands and not telling them, then demanding that if they don't play the band have to pay them? they have decided to book Coverd up for the 5th of November (my mums birthday) a day we would never gig, and not tell us. and then have the cheek to tell us that if we don't do it we have to pay.

Nice pub with a lovely beer garden on the main road to Rayleigh, should be a gold mine, however there is no real ale and no premium lagers, boring!
