L shaped Spoons with a small amount of seating at the front. Inside the bar counter follows the shape of the venue on the left-hand side with a stone tiled skirt in an otherwise carpeted area. Tall and regular tables around the front and along the front right-hand side opposite the bar counter. There is a raised seating area including some booth tables on the right-hand side beyond the end of the bar counter where the venue opens a bit in the middle of the venue under a large apexed dome that makes this part of the venue very light on a sunny day. The rear of the venue is packed with seats all occupied by diners on a busy Sunday lunchtime, seating generally via regular tables and chairs, but with a banquette down the right-hand wall to a few booth tables in the far-right corner. There is a large skylight in the middle of this area also. A rear beer garden was popular on my visit. The wood panelling in large parts of the venue gives it an art deco feel and there are some old garage memorabilia on the walls in parts.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Cornfield Garage (JD Wetherspoon)

A fairly standard 'spoons, housed in the former Cornford Garage building, and the interior stretches back some way so its larger inside than one might expect. As on my previous visit some 17 years ago, I found a very respectable selection of cask ales from the current Beer Festival range, including several unusual beers such as my Orange Wheat Grand Cru from Green Jack (£3.19).

As previous reviewers have observed, once inside you could be in any 'spoons in the country. It was typical of the brand - cheap food and beer. Interestingly the guest beers were more expensive than in my New Malden local, and the food quality (based on just the fish 'n' chips) was not as good either. When I was in there earlier this month London was enjoying one the 30c+ heatwave days, and although it wasn't quite as hot in Eastbourne the sun shining through the enormous central skylight certainly boosted the temperature in here somewhat.

An unusual experience - when I presented my CAMRA voucher to the young barmaid it was evident she had never seen one before, so she consulted a more senior colleague who also confessed that it was a new one on her and thus had to summon the manager from his back of house duties to show them how they worked. Says something about Eastbourne I guess.
