Entirely as described previously; an excellent drinking location in the barge's converted hold, which would be actually be a good bar wherever it was located. The steep steps can be a little hazardous however, especially on the way out! The on-shore part seems to have expanded dramatically, with music stages and other attractions. A Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout was in very good form.

A quite wonderful alehouse set within a very robust Dutch Barge, the long bar running down one side with a good stretch of banquette seating running down opposite, Richards review below describes the beers on offer and I found the Nene Valley Bible Black an excellent drop. This is well worth seeking out for something a little different.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Charters

Renowned cask beer 'pub' housed in a Dutch barge moored on the southern banks of the River Nene since 1991. The upper level is a separate pan-Asian restaurant called East so you need to head to the lower level to find the understandably narrow and elongated bar. This is furnished and decorated in a traditional alehouse style, but there is now a substantial patio beer garden outside on dry land. Two banks of four handpumps, one offering four Oakham beers (as this is part of the Oaka Group) - JHB, Inferno, Citra and Bishops Farewell - with guests on the other: Riverhead's Golden Bitter (£4.20), Lacons Goody pale ale, Bruha's Goya IPA and NVB Bible Black. Also has a good selection of craft keg and bottle / can offerings and various ciders.
