A quite wonderful alehouse set within a very robust Dutch Barge, the long bar running down one side with a good stretch of banquette seating running down opposite, Richards review below describes the beers on offer and I found the Nene Valley Bible Black an excellent drop. This is well worth seeking out for something a little different.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Charters

Renowned cask beer 'pub' housed in a Dutch barge moored on the southern banks of the River Nene since 1991. The upper level is a separate pan-Asian restaurant called East so you need to head to the lower level to find the understandably narrow and elongated bar. This is furnished and decorated in a traditional alehouse style, but there is now a substantial patio beer garden outside on dry land. Two banks of four handpumps, one offering four Oakham beers (as this is part of the Oaka Group) - JHB, Inferno, Citra and Bishops Farewell - with guests on the other: Riverhead's Golden Bitter (£4.20), Lacons Goody pale ale, Bruha's Goya IPA and NVB Bible Black. Also has a good selection of craft keg and bottle / can offerings and various ciders.

Much as I recall, down some stairs to the lower deck with a long bar to right and a load of banquettes off left. It lists, which means it’s probably best sampled early on a crawl unless you’re confident of your sea legs – there’s a large landside garden if you aren’t. GBG listed with eight ales over 15 pumps, 4x Oakham and 4x guests. My Oakham Inferno was in decent shape (NBSS 3). Also some interesting craftykegs and ciders on offer. Sampled on early Sunday afternoon so not caught at the ideal time for atmosphere/turnover but I’d have no hesitation re-doing this one again, it certainly floats my boat.

Ahhh, this place is great. An old Dutch barge moored on the River Nene with quality beer and an excellent live music venue. As noted by another beer lover "how many pubs do you know where you will be drinking below water level?". OK, this is a very short review because I was rather drunk on my (so far only) visit and was even drunker when I disembarked. You'll just have to take my word for it that this place is good; very good. Rated 9
