A modern bar, formerly a Yates, on Watford's now-pedestrianised High Street which offers hot food and real ale, although on my visit, this was limited to just Sharp's Doom Bar with a second clip reversed, a third pump unclipped and fourth with a reversed cider clip. Football showing on various large screens and as half-time came, loud muzak came on which wasn't quite in keeping with a relaxed Monday night crowd. Bit of a shame on the ale front, but there's little else here to recommend.

For a while this pub upped its game a bit after a refurb. It’s still better than it was but it’s slowly slipping back. They still serve the Yates’ real ale which has always been in good nick when I’ve called in, and at a decent price.
