This is a large, but not very interesting bar that had most of the tables set for dining during my Tuesday evening visit. I doubled the occupancy as I walked in, but all of the pubs in this area are quiet in the evenings early midweek. Alongside the limited standard and premium draught products there are surprisingly eight hand pumps on the bar. Unfortunately four of these were drawing Pride and three were drawing Adnams leaving one unused. I decided on the Guinness and although the barmaid was very friendly it was one of the worst pulled drinks I have had as it was poured in one and spilt everywhere as it was passed to me.
There is a pool table by the entrance where there is also a bust of the bard, which was the only reference other then the bars name that I saw any literary connection. Maybe there is a house full of poets nearby that use the free wifi to research their works.
This is a dull faceless bar and I wouldn’t plan to drink here again.

A very large room with a bar in it.... That's it! Soulless , bad decor, poor service. Suits seemed to like the place but avoid if you're looking for somewhere with character.
