I never expect much from Yates but holy mother of god this one is in a different league. My visit was on a Tuesday night and there was loud club music thumping out of the speakers as a spattering of students milled around the sparsely furnished boundaries looking for some meaning in life. There was a DJ in a booth at the rear of the pub, but most of the people were smoking in the paved area out the back. The staff serving at the long bar were disinterested and unsurprisingly the three hand pumps were redundant leaving premium and standard draught products.

Being 35 I’m the wrong generation for most of the venues down this stretch of road in Brighton as I manage to clean and dry my hands after taking a leak without the need of a troll. This killjoy will not be returning.
