The Giddy Bridge is a Wetherspoons with a serving counter on the rear wall that supports two banks of six hand pumps in amongst the standard and premium keg. Available during a recent busy Thursday evening were the usual three plus Little Valley Brewery’s Tod’s Blonde, Gwynt Y Ddraig Black Dragon, Jaipur, Stewart Brewing’s Copper Cascade, Rooster’s Fort Smith, Elgood’s Patron Saint and Weston’s Old Rosie cider. A decent selection I thought, explains why it’s so busy when the other pubs in the area were not so much. The service was very polite and I enjoyed this visit, so I’d gladly return.

A pretty-standard Spoons, a little out of town up in the London Road shops so perhaps quieter than some. There was a good selection of guest ales, including two stouts.

The only person who more or less matched our age on our Saturday night visit was the doorman. The pub was rammed with an average age of 20 somethings, drinking cocktails and shots. There was one young couple who were both drinking out of large pitches filled with some green glup. They couldn't be bothered to even pour it into a glass, so they just drank it from a straw stuck in the middle of it. Service at the bar was efficient, so managed to get a couple of Vibrant Forest Chinooks. The place was also very noisy, so we didn't stay long. Might call again at a respectable time of the day.
