Impressive stone pub at end of tourist village, handy for the public car park. Primarily a dining pub, and laid up with many tables accordingly, however it does retain a good traditional pub feel. Large garden at rear, also laid up for eating. Draught ales at time of visit were Yates Islander, Doom Bar and Bombardier, with several ciders also. Food served in generous portions on proper plates, rather than planks or tiles!

A detached stone build in Jacobean style - E shaped, with slightly projecting wings and nice chiney stacks. Has a beer garden with children's play area.
The interior is open plan and a foody/carvery set-up, which looked good value, though we didn't eat. The decor is a mustard colour and white, with a stone fireplace. The walls had old photos of the area, prints of paintings and worryingly, some 19th century indentures mounted on the walls - slowly decaying. There was a pool table and the music was mixed and at a decent level. The service was fine, the clientele small, but family based.
Beer; tap stuff with Spekky Hen and an ok Goddard's Bitter on handpull
It is a functional family place and it does the job - ps, spot which photo is of the pub in the model village!

Large stone built pub in the picture postcard village of Godshill. The Griffin not only welcomes families it entertains them with a large outdoor play area as well as mini football pitch and its own private maze in the shape of what else a griffin.
Ales and lagers well kept and the food menu is extensive. Steak & Ale Pie, Salad & Chips at getting on for a tenner doesnt sound cheap but the portions are huge and the food delicious
