Part of the Hungry Horse chain owned by Greene King,this newly opened pub is corporate from start to finish,situated in an out of town retail and entertainment park.There is a lot of seating outside,part of which is designated for smokers.Inside to the right of the long bar is an area strictly for over 18's and called the Fans Zone,with a large drop down screen ,a selection of modern furniture and a section of the bar dominated by national brand keg taps.The rest of the interior is given over to family dining,yet with all tables numbered you can sit anywhere if you want to drink.Here there are a lot of seating booths,each with it's own built in TV screen ,airing kids programmes.There are some stand alone dining tables ,if you want some peace.
The food menu had a few low calorie options ,does deals on certain days,has small plate options but the Big Plate Specials and the display cabinet stuffed full of gut busting desserts gives the game away,this is a place to pig out .
At the bar there was a strict GK tie on my visit with GK IPA,Abbott and Old Golden Hen (indistinct,£1.75 the half).My jacket potato with chilli came very quickly but was at least edible.
I left wondering if anyone would use this pub as their regular,it's not my kind of place and it's just so dull and predicatable.
