A large corner pub in the town centre in what was a former bank. Large arched windows on the two external elevations, the obviously more recent carved bar back and counter are a good effort towards being traditional. The front area where the service counter is has a boarded floor and mixed seating but mustard coloured banquettes and regular height tables run around the external walls. Up a couple of steps to another large area with a chequer tiled area, a Royal coat of arms and deer and antler trophies on the walls. The room then winds back further effectively to the rear of the bar where there are armchairs and wood panelled walls. Fullers beers, ESB, Pride, HSB, Oliver's Island plus Long Man Old Man.
6 Nations flags in the windows, although the TV was off. Not a bad spot at all.

Decent enough Fullers pub. Bar to rear with a good selection of their ales, including ESB which we all had. Worth a revisit if in the area again.

The Cock and Bull is an L shaped Fullers pub with open plan seating at the front that is faced by the bar and some raised seating around to the right. The bar supports six hand pumps that were drawing Pride (x2), Chiswick (x2), ESB and HSB during my recent Saturday afternoon visit. There is also a standard draught selection alongside Peroni and food is served all day with the mains costing between £7.50 and £13. There is a plasma screen in the main bar area that was showing muted Six Nations rugby via BBC and there was some background music playing. To the left of the bar is a little gaming area where there are a couple of fruit machines, table football and a retro Pacman table. There is a quiz every Monday evening from 20:00 and live music was advertised for the first Monday of every month.
I’m a big fan of Fullers pubs, but this one lacks character. Maybe it is due to the transient nature of the high street crowds popping in for lunch during shopping trips. I wouldn’t actively seek out this pub again.
