Will Larter left this review about Punch & Judy

A back street pub with a narrow frontage but it extends further to the rear than might be expected, with a light and airy room up a couple of steps. Even more surprising are the coloured glass windows at the back. There's a small outdoor seating area beyond, and an old pub sign on the wall beside the back door.

The bar counter is to the left on entering, with two hand pumps. Harvey's Sussex Best is the sole beer on, and it's Acceptable without much hint of the beer that so many people rave about - my half was £2.55. On a quiet afternoon I was entertained by a rare appearance on a pub's sound system of This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us by Sparks - they don't make them like that any more.

Visited 09/02/26. Visited previously 09/08/21.

Cask amounted to a handpump dispensing Harvey's Sussex Best with the clip on the other pump turned round. Keg was Inch's, Fosters, Cruz, Guinness, Sharps Atlantic Pale Ale, Moretti, Amstel and Heineken.

Pleasant backstreet locals pub 5 min walk from Tonbridge station. Bare boarded apart from a terracotta tile skirt around the bar counter which is off the left-hand wall and providing tall stool seating on both its punter facing sides. There are some tall tables with tall stools in the front window and in the nook in front of the bar counter by a large TV showing live cricket absent commentary on my visit. A large screen on the wall opposite the bar counter was showing Winter Olympics action, with a kitchen table and chair array underneath it. Up a step on the left-hand side behind the bar counter is another seating area with regular tables and chairs and another TV silently showing sport. There is an unused fire grate to the right of that step. Up a further couple of steps is another seating area with regular tables and chairs, much higher ceiling with some stained-glass windows at the far end so letting a nice amount of light into that end of the venue. A doorway on the left of the windows suggested there was an outside seating area at the rear of the venue, but I didn't investigate. An 80's pop soundtrack was playing, and the venue advertised a weekly Thursday evening quiz.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Punch & Judy

Locally famous as the previous home of 'coffin man' (the former landlord who staged a publicity stunt against the pub owners, Enterprise). The place was then partially refurbished, and the whole atmosphere improved. Compact, 'L'-shaped layout with a range of seating in four small areas on three levels, with the rear decking garden back down a couple of steps. Various events advertised. Disappointingly, just Harvey's (£5.65 with a packet of peanuts) available from the handpumps were working on this visit.
