Known in the area as The Top House (there used to be three pubs on the same street which descended away from the town centre making the other two drinking holes The Middle House and The Bottom House but, regretfully, these are long since gone) and my local. Very traditional in style and decor with a large, well looked after garden behind it; the whole place is kept wonderfully clean. Usually has four real ales available - Courage Best, Courage Directors, Golden Hen and Tribute. All of these are normally in excellent condition and reasonably priced with, currently, Directors at £3.40 and the rest £3.00. Homemade rolls are available during week-day lunch times - until they run out! Special mention to be made with regard to the excellent service and friendliness of barmaid Julie who always has a smile and a cheerful word.
