Double fronted pub opened out inside to a larger space but with a closed off staircase largely dividing the room into two. The counter is in the right hand side housing two horseshoes of national brands and three beer engines, one unused or maybe for cider, the others with an unexpected Yorkshire selection of Landlord and Theakstons Best, the best was average and I didn’t risk the Landlord. Various floor and wall treatments and differing furniture divide the pub into more areas, comfy armchairs on board in one corner, banquette seating with Britannias in a sporty area with dartboard and big screen at one end. It is sometimes known as Porter’s Ale House but I have no idea why.

I visited the Prince of Wales early on a recent Monday evening when there were a handful of friendly locals sat at the bar chatting with the equally friendly barmaid. The bar counter is found mid-way along the right-hand wall bookended by seating in the front window and a couple of high tables at the rear. In the front is a small wooden floored seating area with an exposed brick log burning fireplace. An equally small carpeted seating area with dartboard is in found in the left rear. Sky Sports is advertised, but the televisions throughout were airing muted ITV News whilst some background music played. On the drinks front, Standard and premium keg were available and two of the three hand pumps were in operation drawing Theakston’s Best and TT Landlord. The locals were all on lager so I had the same. I’m not sure that I’d go out of my way to revisit.

Recently done-up and a nice job they've made of it. Multi area'd, painted off-white green mushroom colours with a bit of exposed brick. Fell apart at the bar though, three mainstream cask and my Theakston Bitter was tepid with a tart nose (NBSS 1). Dumped it and headed off. 50p says it’s in the 2024 GBG though. 5.5
