The Bay Horse is quite an imposing building on the northern edge of Wolsingham, an area known as Uppertown.

The main bar area is to the left as you enter. It has a fireplace with a wood burner to the left. Stone walls have old pictures of the pub, including one showing locals crowding around after a serious fire. A TV was showing replays of Italian football matches on TNT Sports above the fire. A forthcoming Newcastle game was advertised with a poster. Apparently you can get free pie and peas during the game if you are wearing a Newcastle shirt. It didn't state what you got if you wore the opposition's shirt!

To the rear of the left-hand section is a carpeted area with another TV that was switched off. There was also a dartboard there. To the right of an entrance was a dining room, which was unoccupied. In fact, there were just a couple of other locals chatting to the barmaid at the bar in the main room.

The gents toilets was stocked with after shave and a notice next to it asking people to stop stealing it! Outside, there are a few picnic tables to the side of the pub in the car park, one with an umbrella.

Old Speckled Hen is the regular cask ale here. The "guest" beer was Yardbird. Theakston Best Bitter was on keg, with Thatcher's Gold being the cider. Apparently there is a happy hour all day Tuesday.

This used to be a Cameron's pub, but the beer range has gone downhill since then. Apart from the impressive frontage, there's not too much to recommend this pub unless you want to come on a matchday wearing a black and white shirt for free food, or on a Tuesday for the cheap happy hour beers.
