Old white painted pub with a mini cannon stood on its porch. Quite a long building it is split into two rooms with the toilets between; as we’re in a tiny port village they are labelled Gulls and Buoys and are on the poop deck. Main counter in the right hand room, it is L shaped with a large T-Bar straight in front as you enter, there are three pulls round the corner on the short length. Local brews as labels telling us the distance to the brewery show. Today’s beers were from Monkey Brewhouse ( 3.2 miles), Flack (19 miles) and Island Brewery (9 miles plus ferry ride). A nice woody interior, old beams, panelling and tongue & groove painted cream, a board floor and older wooden furniture make it a neat traditional place. The gents is decorated with maritime charts of the waters outside in the Solent and the whole place is nautical in flavour. We ate here and the service was professional and quick if a little too “gee whizz guys what can we do for you today”, I suspect a change of operators since the very old negative reviews below. Very dog friendly and there’s a beer garden at the back.
