A very fine art deco exterior ,a typical roadhouse but now the A5 has by passed the area,it's the community pub for Mancetter.Sadly none of the art deco has been retained inside apart from the division of the interior into a lounge to the left, empty on my Thursday evening visit, comfy chairs, own servery but modern and a tap room to the right which has been badly refurbed.Garish wallpaper, slatted blinds on every window, ceiling fans, brass globes as lighting above the bar, bright velour covering a long seating bench and two brown sofas in a side section, with a screen showing music videos.Far too modern.
A noteworthy features is the ale choice of two from the pubs owner Sperrin namely their Third Party and Cut & Run (NBSS 3.5) with a single guest in Doom Bar which nobody in their right mind would order.
Inspecting the windows I noticed that the original crittal windows have benn replaced by UPVC look-a -likes,which didn't help my mood.In short the interior has been runined ,and was dead on my visit.
There is a seperate restaurant called Churchills in an adjoining modern extension which looks out of keeping with the original building. The entrance is off the rear carpark. It was popular and may be the focus, the bars felt like an after thought .There are letting rooms too, another source of income.
The Sperrin ales are the high point but the pub experience was poor, not sure i would visit again.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Blue Boar Inn
A rarity, having been rebuilt in the early part of the Second World War, but this pub has a really striking curved Art Deco frontage that must once have been a prominent waymark for London-bound traffic before the A5 bypassed the historic Watling Street alignment through Atherstone. With the main bar (with a pool table and dartboard) to one side, the smaller lounge bar at the front and another bar / dining room round the other side, the interior retains a lot of character too. Also has Churchills restaurant in a more modern extension round the back, and hotel accommodation is offered too. Now run by the local Sperrin Brewery, its Band of Brothers (£2.75) and Third Party were available from the various handpumps, together with Pedigree as a guest. I liked this one a lot, so well worth seeking out.

Alan Winfield left this review about Blue Boar Inn
The Blue Boar looks like a typical 30s built pub that is at the southern end of Atherstone.
Once inside i went into an oblong shaped room to the right which was the bar room, the room is bare boarded and had comfy bench seating in bays, there were a couple of tall tables and chairs, plus a darts board to the left and pool table to the rear, there was a large drop down screen showing the West Ham v Man city game.
There is a smaller separate lounge to the left which is carpeted and had comfy bench seating.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Sperrin Head Hunter which was a really nice drink, the other beers were Sperrin Ainsley Mild and Pedigree.
This is a very smart and comfortable pub with some cheap and very nice beers on the bar, well worth the walk.
