Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Royal Oak

Located at the end of Bangor's High Street opposite the parish church, this pub sits next to an old stone bridge over the River Dee. There is a car park and a rather neglected garden area to the rear.

There is a bar area to the front of the pub, with further secluded seating to the rear. On our Saturday lunchtime, there was a rather bored-looking barmaid and somebody else eating a meal. My best guess was this was another member of staff. So, I'm fairly sure we were the only customers at a time when I'd expect pubs to be busy.

The real ale is Stonehouse Station Bitter. Whilst it's been several years since I was last in Bangor-on-Dee, I think the Buck House Hotel is the better choice.

Alan Hurdle left this review about Royal Oak

The Royal Oak stands at the end of the 1658 stone bridge across the Dee. The pub outdoor seating extends to the Dee wall with views of the river flowing under the five arches. Inside is far more modernized than on my previous visit with nearly all tables set up for diners only. The drinkers have a smaller area near to the bar. My half of Stonehouse bitter was £2.05 which is dear for the area.
