Popular village pub tucked away in the small village of Trevalyn. Our visit coincided with the Grand National where there was supposed to be a barbecue and special drinks. I noted a couple of bottles of Creme Egg flavoured Baileys (the Aldi variety) on the side and on the fridge. So, I'm guessing this was at least one of the specials! As for the barbecue, somebody seemed to be working on something out the back near the car park, but it was getting near the start of the race with no sign of even a frozen sausage.
The interior is quite small, with a roughly L-shaped bar, with a small stage-like area at one side. This was a bit awkward as you had to step over the stage to get round the bar blockers. Luckily there weren't many handpulls being blocked, with Old Speckled Hen being the solitary option. Nevertheless, we found this to be a friendly village local.

Upretentious and unspoilt rural local. Opened into one room but retaining three distinct areas - a main room with tiled floor, a snug area and a games room behind, all plainly but tidily furnished. Two ales on pump (IPA and Landlord at time of visit) which were very drinkable - Cask Marque listed. Food of simple rather than gastro variety, but quite acceptable and reasonably priced (not all sessions though). Outside there is a garden area with barbecue and the pub has its own camping/caravanning field behind. A proper pub and worth supporting.
