With the New Inn seemingly now a bikers cafe and the Druid Inn standing neglected, the Bridge Inn is the only remaining pub in the village of Pontblyddyn.
Sat at the junction of a couple of A roads, I wasn't quite sure whether the pub was open when I arrived. However, I soon found it open with the landlord accompanied by 3 other customers, all men propping up the bar. The language was atrocious and it's a good job there were no women in, given some of the comments.
It's a very basic 2-roomed interior with a bar and a dining room. The solitary beer was Weetwood Best Bitter. Condition-wise it was fine. However, it's really not my kind of beer.
I could imagine that the atmosphere in here could have been quite intimidating for some. Luckily, I'm not easily offended! Perhaps the atmosphere is different in the evening when diners arrive, but I couldn't take to this one.

Like the Druid Inn just up the road, the Bridge Inn is also a gastro pub in an old building but has more space for the drinker with the dining areas being separate from the bar area. There is a large outside patio area at the front of the pub decorated with many flower tubs and baskets, and a larger garden area at the rear on the banks of the River Alyn.

the bridge inn run by larry and his wife glynis along with excellent staff is a really great place to eat and drink. we drink and eat there most sundays and do approx 60 mile round trip to do it. they have a great sunday carvery and also a good choice of other food along with starters and puddings. they have a good choice of ales and wines, the location would take some beating, it is alongside a river and has outside seating and a play area for youngsters, they do recommend that they children are supervised at all times due to the proximity of the river and there not been any reports of anyone ever falling in.
the spot is ideal for touring across the llandegla moors also to llangollen etc
dont take my word for it, go yourself i guarantee you will not be disappointed
