Backstreet place that is more a restaurant than a pub. Table service no longer appears to be compulsory, as I was able to wander up to the bar and order a drink. There are however, a large number of waiters and waitresses, far more than was justified by the small number of customers on a Wednesday evening.
The ale choice was Eagles Pale (Big Hand Seren) and Big Hand Bastion. Having tried Seren before, I decided to give the Bastion a try. Whilst I don't normally enjoy bitters, this one was my favourite beer of the day, a really nice malty drink. An added bonus was the price. Whatpub warns readers about premium prices, but pricing was reasonable.
One of two Llangollen pubs in the 2022 Good Beer Guide, I thought this was the better of the two. Although, there are still better pubs in the town than these.

Mmmhhhhh. I suppose you can still classify this one as a pub, but only just. It’s definitely more aimed at the food trade and although you can still come here just for drinks, you have to sit down to do it as it is table service only and you need to be seated at a table. Unfair to rate this one as I didn’t actually stay for a beer. Same two beers on as for Delboys visit, but when the young lad couldn’t tell me who the badged Eagle Pale was from I declined his offer of a table.

Large pub which was busy when I called in. They found me a seat in the large covered outside area (which has its own bar). Doom Bar and Eagle pale on offer. I went for the latter which was fine. The best thing was hearing The Smiths - How Soon Is Now? which warranted another pint!
