The William IV was the place to be early on a recent Wednesday evening with nearly all the tables taken and the bar area in the front right being full of university aged people who all seemed to know each other, so maybe I had stumbled into a function or preplanned gathering. The L-shaped counter mid-way along the right-hand wall faces the front and raised seating that runs up the left-hand wall from front to rear. The televisions throughout were airing a muted mix of Champions League football on TNT Sport, BBC News and pub adverts. Standard and premium keg were available and St Austell’s Tribute and Proper Job were clipped on the four hand pumps. The service was very friendly, but I’m not sure why this place was so busy when its peers were just getting by.

A decent looking pub situated on one of the main streets through Truro.
Once inside the bar faces in a fairly large square shaped room,it is part carpeted and bare barded,there is a raised are on the left side,there is bench seating,normal tables and chairs and some tall tables and chairs.
The pub is a St Austell tied house,we had a drink of St Austell Tribute,which was a decent drink,the other real ales were HSD and Harvest Moon.
Food was being served and background music was playing.
A decent and comfortable pub to have a drink in.

Disappointed with this St Austell pub today as the HSD was quite sour and had to be returned. I was told it was a new barrel, but they did change it for a Tribute. Enjoyed sitting out in the garden here but the beer quality was not all that good.
