Featuring in the latest Good Beer Guide, I was expecting good things from this pub which is a little way out of the city centre, but where parking is still a struggle. Despite limited space at the front, some of the spaces were blocked by cones and others were taking by material relating to ongoing building works at the rear of the pub.
London Pride & Sea Fury are the regular ales here. The guest beer was Doom Bar! It just wasn't what I expected from a Good Beer Guide pub. My previous visit to Truro led me to pubs with much better ale ranges than this.
Just one other customer was in, which is a good indication why the City Inn (where I had just tried to visit) had been closed during the day. Perhaps the good folk of Truro don't like drinking during the day.
I didn't venture any further than the front bar, especially with the construction work at the rear. What I saw was nicely appointed and cosy, but without any decent real ale, I wouldn't bother heading back up the hill again.

Visited this pub as there was a beer festival on, and although up quite a steep hill leading out of the city, it is a friendly locals bar, and we enjoyed all the ales we tried. It appears very open plan, but the drinking areas are separate, and the bar area is at the front with the other areas having tables set up for dining. The raised area at the rear leads out to a sun trap of a patio garden where they had the beer festival stillage set up.
