As the grandest and most expensive hotel in Brora, it came as no surprise that drinks were also on the pricey side, with Belhaven Best costing £4.20 a pint. I had rejected the Guinness I had originally ordered when I noticed that it was about to be poured in the "surger" variety and I wasn't about to pay those sort of prices for what is essentially just a can topped up with foam. The range of draught beer was extremely limited anyway, with only Carling and Staropramen lagers also available. There are two bars, one designated the Cocktail Bar and the other the Cafe Bar. Both have the same limited selection on sale at the same prices. There is a beer garden at the front, which, had the weather been better, would have been preferable to either of the rather staid indoor alternatives. Both of these were very quiet and I suspect I was the only non-resident drinking in them; but only for one pint in each. I note that a previous closure notice stated that the bars were for diners and residents only, but no one challenged me about this when I asked for drinks although, to be honest, I wouldn't particularly recommend the place.
