An attractive, traditional style pub with a full island bar, I would rate this as probably the best place I visited in the city centre (although it's on the northern edge of it). It was packed on the Saturday night I called in, with a mixed sex clientele ranging from young to middle-aged. It was well staffed, though, and service at the bar was swift and friendly. There is a pool table, a dart board, a juke box and TVs (showing football). The walls are hung with, among other things, football tops from the local club, St. Johnstone. A pint of Guinness cost me £3.40 and Tennent's, Carlsberg, Carling and Stella Artois lagers, Belhaven Best and Strongbow cider were also on draught, as was something I'd never heard of before called Yardbird Pale Ale. Lia Fail and Belhaven Black Stout were also available on hand pumps. All in all, this is a deservedly popular pub which is well worth a visit.
