Striking bitsa building and a characterful place with a tight semi-hexagonal wraparound interior and lots of gloopy brown varnished wainscoting and black beams (of a modern persuasion). I think you can disregard the ‘circa 1312’ claim, more likely referring to the 24 hour clock in reality. Three ales, Sharps Doom Bar, Sea Fury and St Ives Meor. My Sea Fury was a cardinal sin - served in a piping hot glass, the liquid was good at least (NBSS 2.5) though expensive, as forewarned. I think it's decent enough and worth a visit if you’re in town.

The date of the pub was a clue for one of the stages of an Adventure Lab Cache - so it would have been rude not to have sampled its wares.

Warm enough to sit outside - in December - I only got a quick look at the inside - with a dark, wooden bar, central to the rooms around it - all covered in heavy grade perspex.

Outside - the location cannot be beaten. Food was good. Beer was Doom Bar, Sea Fury or Ghost Ship... Disappointingly served in a plastic glass when outside.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Sloop Inn

Picturesque old inn (claiming rather implausibly to date from "circa 1312") in a prime position overlooking the small harbour. Just as traditional inside as you would expect, with small linked counters in three separate rooms. All dark wood furniture and panelling, with mostly nautical decor. Three regular real ales from multiple handpumps: Doom Bar, Adnams Lighthouse and Dartmoor Jail Ale (£4.65).
