The bar of this up-market hotel is decent enough, and tries its best to create more of a pub atmosphere than most hotel bars, with subtle lighting, a TV, a juke box and games machines. However, it was mainly dominated by people eating on the Friday evening of my visit. It makes a big deal of being dog friendly, on the basis that no dog has ever smoked in bed and set fire to the sheets etc. There is a restaurant next door and a beer garden, adjoining the car park, at the back, and meals are also served in the bar. A pint of Cairngorm Stag cost me £3.45 and Pentland IPA, Guinness, Stella Artois, Carling and Tennent’s lagers are also on tap, as are Magner’s cider and (a new one on me) Cairn O’Mhor Scottish cider. I didn’t know Scotland made cider - must be down to global warming, I suppose.
