When I looked at the interior photographs of this pub provided by a previous contributor, I didn't recognize the place at all. There must, therefore, be a lounge bar in the lower level of the building which I failed to notice. It certainly looks considerably plusher than the bit I was in.

This is now the only pub currently open in the small town of Gorebridge, although there is a licenced Social/Bowling Club. In view of that, it was surprisingly quiet in the early Friday evening I popped in, with just about half a dozen other customers. There were two real ale taps, one dispensing Crossborder Porter, which I'd never heard of before, and the second not in use. It being a very hot day, I opted for a pint of Tennent's lager instead, which cost me the nowadays unusual price of £3.23. Guinness, Tennent's light, Caledonia Best, Pilsner lager and Magner's and Sam Smith's cider were also on draught. The Inn consists of a small, square shaped room, partly divided by a partition. The main area has just bar stools for seating and the smaller section to the side has padded seats and chairs at tables. This part also has a TV, a dart board and a games machine. Although not conveniently located for the majority of the town, it is quite close the the recently re-opened railway station, at least if you know the short cut via Lady Brae.
