since the last review the star has under went a massive re fit with new toilets, the bar has been ripped out and started again in a more modern way, picture have been added, sky sports, racing uk and at the races all showing, there is also a real ale on tap along with best, guiness, st Andrews, Belhaven black, carling tennents and cider, there is live music and a juke box in lounge and a pool table upstairs, the beer garden has been transformed and the kitchen will follow

A large irregular shaped corner pub next to the brook that runs through Strathaven. It has a Georgian look, with a terracotta rendering, white paintwork and corner stones, dormer windows, as well as a beer garden.

The interior has a lounge (which i didn't see) and an upstairs function room. The bar room is a small square room with the serving bar to the right as you walk in. The room is in cream with fake brown wall beams. The ceiling is white and there is a stone flag floor. There were no real pictures on the walls, so the main interest is the iron support post in the middle the room. The TV was showing a footy match and there was no music. Service was fine and the place was pretty busy with a mixed crowd.

Beer; all keg, no real ale. There was Belhaven Best and St Andrew's Ale, both of which were decent enough.

A decent enough place and one i would happily go back to - just lacks a real ale.
