Directly across from the railway station and the town’s only disco, this is a popular pub which can be extremely busy at weekends, with DJs and karaoke singers making it difficult to hear yourself speak. A much quieter and more relaxed atmosphere prevails during the week, however. It has, fortunately, retained the horseshoe bar design it inherited from its previous incarnation as “The Caledonian Bar.” A pool table also survives in a small alcove separate from the main bar.
