David Ross left this review about The Owl & Trout
Styling itself as a “Country Inn,” The Owl And Trout sits just outside Caldercruix village on the main Airdrie to Bathgate road. As the name partly suggests, it is frequented by fishermen from the adjacent Hillend Loch. It consists of a fairly basic public bar with a more up-market lounge/restaurant next door, although meals are also served in the bar. A pleasant pub whose location gives it something of the feel of being in the countryside, despite being in the middle of Scotland’s industrial central belt.
